BLOOMINGTON, IN.– It looked like the week off for Indiana Football really helped as they picked up right where they left off in their last game beating Georgia Southern 52-17 at home.
Morgan Ellison led the big offense for IU running the ball 25 times for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns. His longest rush went for 34 yards. Cole Gest added 4 carries for 45 yards to add to the strong rushing game.
Indiana scored on three of their first four drives which should have sent a signal that it would be a high-scoring game. The game was pretty much locked up with a 31-7 halftime lead. IU wasn’t done scoring and added 21 more in the second half.
IU ran with two quarterbacks because of a huge lead and both produced. Richard Lagow was the starter and threw the ball 13 times with 8 completions for 130 yards and a touchdown. Peyton Ramsey also was featured finishing 3-for-8 with 55 yards and a touchdown.
Ian Thomas and Devonte Williams both led the receiving game but neither is a wideout. Thomas, a tight end, caught 2 passes for 79 yards with a touchdown. However, he caught a monster 71-yard pass for a touchdown early in the third quarter. Williams, a running back, caught one pass but for 42 yards and took it to the house later in the 3rd.
The IU defense wasn’t too shabby holding Georgia Southern to 17 points. For a team, the Hoosiers recorded 71 total tackles with 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. They also recovered three fumbles with one being returned for a touchdown.
UP NEXT: IU travels to Penn State for a road test against the Lions. That game will be next Saturday at 3:30 PM ET on the Big Ten Network.
